Narrative Coffee Roasters
Narrative Coffee Roasters began with a heart to bring high quality and unique seasonal coffees to SWFL. Our roaster, Caleb, had moved here from Canada where he had worked in the coffee industry starting in 2010, and he soon realized the SWFL area was lacking in something he was so used to: specialty coffee. With his passion for quality coffee and the need for his own personal outlet to creatively enjoy coffee at home, he began roasting. He started roasting at home for enjoyment on a Whirley Pop Popcorn Maker. Soon after though, near the beginning of 2016, his wife let him take some money out of their savings to purchase a small sample roaster.
During this time, he and his wife talked seriously about starting their own coffee business. All of their ideas became more of a reality when they began to discuss what it would take for their dreams to be put to life. With the help of a few key individuals, they made the jump, and Narrative Coffee Roasters began. Beginning with a roasting lab providing quality retail and wholesale coffees, Caleb found it difficult to get a coffee shop up off the ground while juggling these other responsibilities. He connected with William, our co-owner, to launch a brick and mortar shop and bring excellent coffee to SWFL.
William was raised in a family that had been a part of every facet of the coffee chain for three generations. Morning café con leche to late evening cafecitos were the norm for William growing up; coffee really was at the heart of his family, and he grew to love it himself. A Tampa native, William saw the growing specialty coffee scene in other cities and longed to see the same in SWFL. And after meeting Caleb, creating spaces within the community where people can gather together to share their stories over amazing coffee has become a reality.
Our hope and desire here at Narrative is to build a more fluid link between the coffee farmer and the consumer as well as to cultivate the creative communities of SWFL and beyond.
